Adding Sub-Groups

You can use two methods to add sub-groups:
  • Add sub-groups using the map (only when in spatial edits mode)
    1. Click the Sub-groups tab and then press the button.

Note: The Plus button toggles on and off. When you turn it on you will see this message in the bottom corner of your screen:

When you turn if off you will see this message in the bottom corner of your screen:

    2. In the map view, drag the selection box around the datum elements to be added. You might need to minimize the Create group of groups dialog to better expose the map so you can make your selection.
    3. The Selection Results dialog is displayed, listing all elements that were included in the selection. Only elements that are eligible to be added to the group will be displayed here.
  • Add sub-groups using the form
If you already know the description or Unique Name of the Sub-Group you want to add to the group you can use this method:
    1. Press the button in the Sub-groups tab toolbar. The following dialog is displayed:

    2. Type in the Unique Name or Description of the element you want to add in the Name textbox. While you type, any elements matching the typed text will display in a dropdown:

    3. Select the element you want to add. Note that the From and To will always be disabled in the case of Groups of Groups and these are not included on the Add Member dialog.

The membership start date will default to the current date. You can change this date but note that you can only select a membership date between today's date and the Group's start date.

    4. Click Add to add the Group to the parent Group as a member.
Note: If you see a message saying "Create the group first to add members" then you must first save the group of groups record before you add subgroups to it.
Note: If no child group features of the required type are available, a message to that effect appears.
Note: The hierarchy between Parent and Child groups is defined in Exor forms in the Network Metamodel/Group Types.
Note: Sub Groups will be added automatically if the Network Type for the selected Group Type has been defined as the 'Parent' Network Type in the Type Inclusion window of Network Types form for a Network Type associated with a group of datums.

Additional Data

The Additional Data tab will hold any Additional Data Type records that have been defined for the Group Type the current Group belongs to. For more information see Editing Additional Attribute Data for Network Types.
